Invitation to contribute to Dialogue & Alliance issue focusing on Africa

For some reason I keep getting roped into editing and publishing periodicals. The Universal Peace Federation has taken up the public of the journal Dialogue & Alliance from the Inter-Religious Federation for World Peace and the faithful and erudite editorship of Dr. Frank Kaufmann.

Past issues of Dialogue & Alliance featured a few scholarly articles by professors of religion and some book reviews. We are casting a somewhat wider net, looking for contributions by and about people of faith from all walks of life who are contributing to peace and development through dialogue and alliance. The upcoming issue, to be distributed in September, focuses on Africa, building on the momentum of the recent Africa Day celebrations in coordination with the African Union (see www.africaday.info).

I invite people interested in contributing an essay or contacting potential authors of essays to contact me at jpople@upf.org. We would especially like to feature essays on related topics but from diverse perspectives with authors responding to each other in a few paragraphs at the end of the complementary essays. In other words, dialogue.

Movie reviews were not included in the past, but there are some extraordinary documentaries documentaries about people resolving conflicts and working for reconciliation in Africa. Would anyone like to review:
- "Invictus" (Nelson Mandela in the daunting early part of his presidency of South Africa rallying the blacks and whites together centered around the world rugby championships. (This movie has had wide distribution)
- "Pray the Devil Back to Hell" about Muslim and Christian women initiating mass action in Liberia to end the civil war. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pray_the_Devil_Back_to_Hell
- "The Imam and the Pastor" about Pastor James Wuye and Imam Mohammad Ashafa of Nigeria, who were members of competing militias and went through personal transformations through their friendship and now work cooperatively to head the Inter-Faith Mediation Center. The US Institute of Peace made a documentary about their work. See http://www.iofc.org/imam-pastor
- Something about Rwanda, such as "Hotel Rwanda."

Sincerely, Joy Schmidt Pople
