Your question was, "how can God be in control when He gives us Free Will?" That's a good question; and; significant. It is significant because it means that you are actually asking questions. You should ask many questions---instead of just eating every word up---and trying to rationalize how it has to be true; or how you need to change because it doesn't seem to fit with your deep beliefs. An honest spiritual seeker will continuously ask the questions and follow the answers. If something doesn't seem to add up in your mind---find out why---without fear.

We know that God created the universe---and we know it is infinite and very complex. Just having the ability to have a ball of stardust out in space with an atmosphere, an ecosystem, water, soil, and intense beauty---shows us how intelligent God is. Just examine the human body---the most complex organism on Earth. Such a work of art, such beauty.

When a human family has a baby--they initiated conception, but they did not create it. The baby developed by unseen forces, within the mother. Even our physical growth through life is not controlled by us---it happens through some other force and direction---the growth cycles that God set in motion.

When we have a child, it is completely helpless. Our job is to provide the instruction, direction, and protection----so that the child can grow up into an independent being---able to make its own life decisions. A good parent nurtures his child--and then allows it to go out into the world to find its own way. The child of a good parent always knows that their parents are there to support them. If the child gets into trouble, the parent steps in to help.

God created man to attain soul growth---to transition from physical human beings to eternal spiritual beings. We do this through the decisions we make ourselves in our lives. If we choose the path of evil, we cannot get to heaven, because the eternal vehicle---our soul--will not have developed the capacity to go there. God is a God of infinite mercy and grace. Being our Father, the way is always open for us to come back---should we choose to.

But God is always in control of His creation. In His universe, individuals will choose whether to live merely a physical life or attain the eternal life. Some will fall along the way---but the universe---and God's Blueprint for Human Creation-----which is best attained through a God-Centered family---will remain. God's Blueprint for Human Creation is for man to begin as a human, and through his own decisions---to grow into eternal spiritual beings---beings of unconditional love---becoming one of the infinite reflections of The Heart of God. (just like snowflakes---all made of ice crystals---but not one is exactly the same. What a miracle! What a blessing! What a joy! What love! Only God can make a tree.......................
