Sharing God's New Covenant with the World Since 1975
Jim,
Your words are great--------if you are a man. But, how do you think they feel to a women? Men have started all the wars on earth. Men, create wreake most of the destruction. Women are the spiritual standard bearers because they are the Mothers---the nurturers, the care-givers of the children.
In many cultures, women are treated as property. They are abused and even denied the opportunity to go to school.
The world would be a much better place if women were allowed an equal space along side of their mates.
Eve may have strayed and fallen----but the partial reason might have been that Adam was not paying attention------------as so many husbands do today.
Father recognizes these things. That's why, as part of the blessing procedures---the man is in the position of a son being born and the women is in the position of a mother that has to raise him up to regain his position as a true man.
The one thing we all must remember is that EACH human being is given the gift of his or her own mind and each is given the gift of free will from the Creator. You can teach about the roles of men and women but in the end---it is up to each individual about the choices they choose to make in their lives. God Himself does not invade the free will choices that he gave his children.
In Christianity, advanced thinkers convey the term "mutual submission"---which you so indicated. In mutual submission, each person in the marriage---recognizes, respects, and worships the divine spirit in the other person. If that happens, then the Man will come to understand how the feminine Holy Spirit functions in the world, creating the physical world and endowing mind and body during baby creation.
The women will recognize the Father spirit in the man, how he leads, protects, and paves the way.
Many young members understand the roles in theory; but because they don't understand it in heart; they become bullies, chauvinists, nags, or arrogant usurpers of others rights. Marriages fail because couples choose to compete with each other rather than humble themselves to each other. Or, some get defeated and become doormats or couch potatoes---thereby insuring the loss of respect by the partner.
When Jesus came, he made sure to let people know that women were equal to men in mind and spirit endowment. He had a womens corp of 70 women, who went out preaching---something that was unheard of in those days.
